''Nigerian Artist that should improve, change their style or simply look for another career''

See who is back...Did you miss me?Well,i finally got out of that crap contract i signed with a magazine so now i can write at will.Remember i promised to publish this piece a long time ago?I finally got around to doing just that,i hope your enjoy it.Happy reading.

Tony Tetula:I won't blame you if you don't remember this dude but i am sure you still do.Born Anthony Olanrewaju, this former member of The Remedies had a few hits with the group Remedies (along with Eedris Abdulkareem and Eddy Montana) before he was thrown out of the group. He instantly became successful as a solo artist largely on the ground of sympathy on how he was booted out of the group. The problem for Tony now is that he simply can't keep up with the pace at which the Music scene is moving. He hasn't had a major hit since ''Two women''.All his latest efforts has refused to make any major impact. My verdict is that Tony should try and blend in with the latest trend in the industry, work with young and hot producers and who knows, there might still be more from this native of Kwara state.

Jazzman Olofin:Did i hear you scream oh my God...!!!!The shawarma man as i prefer to call him came into the lime light a couple of years ago with buddy Lexy doo.Had a few hits togetherbefore they parted ways but then just like Uncle Tony, things got rough when the younger boys started vexing.Uncle Jazzy couldn't just match up with what these younger boys were spiting and instead of changing style,he stuck with his old gun and has been firing blank ever since. My verdict is that there is simply nothing more,we will forever remember ''Iya e lofi jo'' but please stop, just give it up.Your latest effort with Haruna Ishola jnr was simply wack,i actually mean very wack.Since you hardly do a track without mentioning shawarma,i suggest you open a shawarma spot.Who know a Jazzman shawarma spot might just be a more lucrative venture.

Mode nine and Rugged-man:I will like to put these two sworn enemies in the same category. While i do respect both of them for what they spit,i think they both decided to pick up a fight at the wrong time.Instead of concentrating on staying relevant in the rap game, these two agbaya's are busy slugging it out on been crowned Naija's rap king.Unfortunately, while both Agbaya were busy on the battle field,a very short, black young man from Jos who goes by the name M.I stole the crown. To make it worse, these Agbaya did not even notice there are fighting over a crown we all have given to Naija's rap messiah. My verdict goes thus:Uncle Mode nine, you are tight but you need to make yourself more audible, listen to M.i or Naeto c,we simply can't hear you.Biko, improve asap or become totally irrelevant.A few commercial tracks too won't hurt. For the other Agbaya,Rugged man,am not surprised at your fate, when you took on older colleagues a couple of years ago and took some of them and even their careers to the cleaner,we all knew one day, nemesis will catch up with you.Leave clothing and dissing and concentrate on making hits.Consider this as an advice.

Goldie:Miss Susan Harvey,i respect your courage but can't you see,you are not talented.Music is just not your thing, you think wearing revealing clothes and exposing your breast sells albums, wake up girl, this is Naija.[we love the view though].I won't write much about you because you are a woman and am sure your present predicament is the handiwork of a man who has been lying to you endlessly...oh you have the voice of an angel, you are so talented..blah..blah..blah..Hell no girlfriend, you are not. Here's my verdict, stop wasting your money, seems to me you love cosmetics since you use them in abundance in your videos like you get it for free[Maybe Toni Payne is your friend],a career in cosmetology or something related could do you some good. Please, don't sing again.Please.

Terry ''G'':Those who are close to me would be surprised Terry made my list because i am such a huge fan of this spiritual mad man like he calls himself.Undoubtedly one of Naija most talented musician and producer, the free me master and the king of swagger and commercial himself is just not giving himself the right image. He really needs to work on it,He should get a publicist and project a positive image. He should stop stressing his love for marijuana,he is not the only one that smokes that crap. You don't smoke as much as some other Naija artist[Ask Tu**** and Wan** C**l] that we know so stop acting as if your success is based on what you smoke. The other thing is that you need to concentrate on writing and singing your own songs, you do too much collaboration as if your career depends on it.All the best Mr ginger ginger.

The concluding part will be published next week.Have a great weekend folk.Love you all.

    • Capable Oyeyemi I agree with you but u have to understand that everyone is just trying in his or her way to meet up with ends meet. You never can say what will make you hit the limelight in 9ja so everybody is just trying. The koko is that GOD should bless whatever we do. Nice one though!!!

Words fail me for now..U speak d truth yeah bt u know life aint wat u get bt its wat u collect. People r often addressed d way de r dressed. Wats d point in goin tru hell to make a good song in dis industry where we live, breath n sleep corr...uption n in d end we pirate d stuff and make dis same artist broke...nigerians dont like listenin to d truth, everyone wants to live a fairy tale life..i like d fact u took out ya time to analyse dis people,de r not so bad in d end yeah,bt wat we need to do is tell them to their face n provide a good solution for them cos some of them ve wacked producers, writers and editors. If i call wat u ve written an obvious crap, m sure u will be so angry dat hell would never witness another fury like urs..Thats wat u just did to our very own wanna be-artists..am not a fan of any of em except rugged bt brother pls....nice work though...See more

    • Ope Shokunbi You have a gift Tunde, and you wouldn't need a prophet to tell you that...good analysis , brilliantly assessed...Though Terry Gee and I were friends and sat together many times to have casual chats before I left, i am of the opinion that you are right about him..Wouldn't be too sure of the other's...Good job Tunde... However create awareness that wouldn't diss them in anyway so you don't get misinterpreted... My thumbs are up though!!!( my critical assessment bro)

Nice critique work. Something Nigeria really needs.

A few things i wouldn't do anyway. I'd tone down the caustic tone of some of the criticism -these are human beings and art isn't politics.

I'd include some music analysis background. I for o...ne agrees with you that Tetulia, even in the group he was thrown out of, had little talent to sing. I heard he wrote well anyway.

      cheers

Well it's nice to have someone who can critcally analyse constructively the Nigerian act, I can't really speak on this casuse it's not my domain. But I can only say, that am an advocate of True Nigerian act, who will sell a true African cul...ture like the Baba 70, sunny Ade,Ebenezer Obey, etc who stayed real and portrayed an African and it's true talent. We have Immense talent to offer without trying to copy an alien act, or immitate an American which defeats our purpose and makes us lack originality. An American is an American, while a Nigerian is a Nigerian... Period. No complentong one for Another.. Stay original, stick to your roots..See more
